Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 21, 2026
Ramos Law Firm respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use eramoslawfirm.com, how we use it, and the rights you have as a California resident under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
Information we collect
What you give us directly:
- Contact: name, phone, email, physical address, preferred language (when you fill out intake, chat with Rami, or contact us).
- Financial and legal info: debts, income, assets, employment, prior bankruptcy filings — only when you provide them.
- Conversations with Rami: chat content is saved so Eugenio or staff can review your situation if you decide to move forward.
- Documents: pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements — only when you actively upload them.
What we collect automatically:
- Server data: IP address, browser, timestamp. Used only for security and to prevent abuse of the chat and intake form.
- Essential cookies: one HTTP-only cookie to tie your chat messages into a conversation (30-day expiration).
- Light analytics (optional): Plausible Analytics — no cookies, no fingerprinting, aggregate page counts only.
How we use your information
- To respond to your questions and schedule consultations.
- To prepare your case if you decide to retain us.
- To send confirmation emails and case-related reminders.
- To improve Rami (in aggregated, anonymized form).
- To comply with legal and bar-association obligations.
How we do NOT use your information
- We do not sell your personal information. Ever. We also do not share it for cross-context advertising.
- We do not share your information with creditors or collectors.
- We do not use your information for targeted advertising.
- We do not share your chat transcripts with family, employer, or third parties — they are confidential.
How Claude (Anthropic) processes your chat
Rami is powered by Claude, a language model from Anthropic. Your messages are sent to the Anthropic API to generate responses. Anthropic does not use content sent through their commercial API to train their models (per Anthropic's API privacy and retention policies). Even so, we recommend not including your Social Security number, full bank account details, or highly sensitive information in the chat — save that for the in-person consultation with Eugenio.
How long we keep your data
- If you don't retain: your intake and chat information is kept for 12 months, then deleted automatically — unless you request earlier deletion.
- If you retain: your case file is retained for the period required by California professional rules (typically at least 5 years after case close), then securely destroyed.
- Sensitive documents (SSN, ID): retained only during the active case, destroyed at close.
The Fresh Slate self-serve tool
If you use Fresh Slate (our self-serve Chapter 7 tool), some additional data handling applies:
- What you enter: the financial and legal details you provide in the intake (about you, work and income, debts, assets, expenses, and a few specifics) are stored so the tool can show your assessment and save your progress.
- Saved session + cookie: we set one signed, HTTP-only cookie (“fs_sid”) that ties your device to your saved session for up to 60 days. Your progress is saved automatically as you go.
- Assessment chat: if you talk to Rami on your assessment and then choose to save your progress, the conversation is stored with your case so the attorney has context.
- Resume by email: if you save your progress or ask for a link, we store your email and a single-use, time-limited token, and email you a one-click link to return to your case.
- “Have an attorney take a look” consent: when you save and agree, we create a profile from your information and Eugenio's office may reach out about your options. There is no charge and no obligation, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
- Documents and pay-stub photos: documents you upload (pay stubs, statements) are stored securely for your case. If you use the “snap a pay stub” feature, the photo is sent once to read the numbers off it and is not stored.
- Payment: the optional $100 review is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number.
- Retention: a saved Fresh Slate session is kept on a rolling 60-day window of activity; sessions abandoned without converting are purged. If you retain the firm, your information becomes a case file (see retention above).
